The Chuncheon Anitown Festival is the Korean greatest animation comprehensive festival that Chuncheon, a city of culture and art, holds every year in order to develop the animation industry, which is a high value added industry of the 21st century. It provides an opportunity of accessing various animations at home and abroad to the general public who love animation, and additionally, it provides animation information and an opportunity of experiencing animation. And, it opened the animation market for animation production companies and investors to provide substantial business opportunities. The Chuncheon Anitown Festival devises multi-lateral strategies for Chuncheon city in order to develop into the greatest animation sample city in the Northeast Asia. The cartoon is classified into the generally-called cartoon(published one) and the animation(cartoon transformed into the motion picture: the animation for theater, OVA, DVD, TVTFLWM, etc), and usually the general form is close to the cartoon. Since Chuncheon city nurtures the animation industry intensively, as a part of the effort, it has held the animation festival since 1997.
