Mt,
Geombong with the height of around
530 m, which is located on the boundary
between Gangchon-ri, and Baekyang-ri,
of Namsan-myeon, Chuncheon city,
is included in Gangchon-ri, Namsan-myeon,
Chuncheon city, Gangwon-do as an
administration unit.
Since this mountain is said to look
like a standing dagger, it is called
Kalbong(dagger peak) or Geombong(sword
peak).
The surrounding landscapes are beautiful
so that many tourists visit here.
In winter, this mountain also becomes
a place of education where people
practice climbing the ice ridge
of the waterfall and this mountain
is used as a tourist attraction
for four seasons.
If you climb up to Gangseonsa Temple
behind Gangchon station, from the
first peak, Lake Uiam is seen to
the right, and both Dogye rest stop,
which is the boundary area with
Gyeonggi-do, and Gangchon rest stop
are seen to the left.
If you climb up around for 2~3 hours
along the ridge after appreciating
the scenery under your feet, which
is seen vaguely, Gugokjeong pavilion
you can see when you turn around
9 curves will appear, and you can
see the water flow that falls, generating
wet fog in Gugok waterfall.
