Located behind the building of Chuncheon city hall, the Chuncheon culture center is a building used as an official residence where the governor of Gangwon-do resided in 1964, and currently is used as a building of the Chuncheon Culture Center.
It was designated as No. 107 of registered cultural properties by the Culture Properties Administration in September, 2004 since the canopy of the letter form, ‘V’, located in front of the building and the unique building style are worth being conserved as cultural heritages. If you climb up to the end going along the access road paved with asphalt from the access road neighboring on the local street toward the city hall, you will meet a white building. The Chuncheon Culture Center was built in the building style with the unique canopy of the letter form, ‘V’, as a two storied mixed-used building with the land area of 2,638㎡, and surrounding the culture center, a bench under the old tree increases the flavor, and since there are ginkgoes and old trees, the surrounding of the culture center looks like a neat park. The Chuncheon culture center contributes to local culture development thorough developing, supplying, conserving, and transmitting the local native culture, researching the native province’s history, collecting materials, and, the culture event and education for developing local society, etc.
