The
banquet of Gestures, which is the CHUNCHEON INTERNATIONAL
MIME FESTIVAL
¡®Mime¡¯ is the mind of Chuncheon.
As a festival having the characteristics that
harmonized Chuncheon(nature), mime(art), and festival(mess)
well, the Chuncheon Mime Festival is the Asian
representative mime festival paralleling with
the world French Mimos mime festival and the British
London mime festival.
This festival is led by the pure private group,
and the reason why a small city of Korea,
Chuncheon, can be settled as the ¡®mecca of
international mime¡¯ is due to the power of
valuable beads of sweat dropped for endeavoring
with a firm will.
The mime that enables people to feel and think
by the body language that is more strong than
words is an art that shows how much beautiful
and free a human body can be. The mime, which
can frequent over the wall of the race and language,
which cannot be gone over by words and writings,
wordlessly with hot breaths and cold silence,
is a new communication structure of this severed
era.
This festival continued to be selected as the
¡®excellent tourism culture festival¡¯
designated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism
for five consecutive years, and achieved distinguished
external growths such as being selected as ¡®the
best 5 of good festivals selected by the audience¡¯,
which was designated by the citizen community
for culture reformation, and as ¡®the 1st
ranking in the estimation of Gangwon-do festivals¡¯
in 2000.
The Chuncheon mime festival intends to be a festival
that will be intimate with citizens in the future,
and a festival that excavates a new performance
and produces the world class artists.
