Agaricus Mushroom
This mushroom has a white stem and nice smell, with a similar shape with cultivated mushroom. It has somewhat unique pattern and its peculiar taste and smell.

Agaricus(mushroom in Portuguese) is rare mushroom originated in 'Piedate' are in the suburbs of Sao Paulo, the capital of Brazil. It was first published in 1965 as the research team centering on Dr. WJ Sinden of Pennsylvania State University and Dr. ED Lambert of Lambert Laboratory presented that Agaricus is very effective in the prevention and treatment of cancer or geriatric diseases.

Thereafter, due to more than 30 years of research in Japan and artificial cultivation from the year 1992, many patients in Japan are currently applying to treatment and obtaining the desired results, and it is commercially used to prevent various kinds of illnesses.

The name, Dongchunghacho(winter insect summer grass) comes from the meaning that an insect remaining dormant throughout winter becomes mushroom(grass) in summer. It is a medicinal mushroom parasited in insect larvae that is characterized by C. sinensis that goes into the body through respiratory/digestive organ or joint etc. of an insect and grows and multiplies while taking nutritive substance and when host insect dies, the infected insect maintains its shape not spoiled until mushroom comes out, and is in Ascomycetes, Clavicipitales and Clavicipitaceae.

Records about Dongchunghacho are clearly stated in Dongeubogam(guide of Korean oriental medicine) and Chinese medical book, Bonchogangmok(botanical list). Originally, Dongchunghacho refers to Cordyceps sinensis comes from larva of Endclyta excrescens however, it becomes the general term for mushrooms. It is called as Dongchunghacho in Korea and Japan, and as 'Dongchunghacho' 'Hachodongchung' 'Chungcho' 'Dongchungdho' etc. in China.

Thus, there is Dongchunghacho growing only in the alpine region, but on the other hand, C. nutans can be found in the hill not far from the town. It is very hard to find out Dongchunghacho that is growing in the neighboring area, and that is because of fastidious condition of its habitation, as well as of its very small size. That is, Dongchunghacho likes humus soil properly shaded by broad-leaved forest with a little forest floor, which is surrounding the valley with clear air and high humidity. Dongchunghacho is normally found out on the ground surrounding the valley. However, Dongchunghacho having imagoes of beetle or moth as its hosts can be found inside the branches of tree and that lives upon spider, ant or dragonfly etc. can be collected in the branches or leaves etc.
